Skyward Swords, ::Improved:: Dolphin tutorial.
Before we start, I just want to remind everyone to please be sure to purchase the game. Piracy impacts development negatively, and supporting via purchase is the best way to go. I understand some are against emulation, but I stand on the pro side and decided to share my experience. Most “How to” articles are basic, and are in all honestly lacking in specifics. LoZSS doesn’t just “work”, if you jump into it like other “how to” articles advice, you will get a LOT of graphical issues, and serious lag.
The hardest thing about modern emulators, particularly those of the 3d format is getting the right settings. Even the most stubborn gamer can have a hard time finding that perfect “tweak”, it’s not so much the person or the software but understanding what does what and how it can effect another. For those who don’t want to tinker and want to just play, i will also be posting the optimized configuration!
Now that we know what’s going on here, let’s get started. Generally most Wii and game cube games run with basic settings but because of Zelda’s amazing water color effects, it’s a bit trickier than most.
The first thing to do is get the R7719m build. Normally I would advise to get the newest but because of a shader update, the newer versions create errors.
The second is to follow these settings I posted via screen shots. You will find these in the graphics settings.
Now the other, OTHER tricky part (Bluetooth pairing). There’s no way around it, you HAVE to buy a Wiimote+ and chuck. Next you need a Bluetooth adapter, and lastly a wireless sensor bar, or turn on your wii/u and use that one. Pairing isn’t as scary as it sounds, open dolphin, select the” wiimote tab,” select “wiimote 1″ dropdown and change to “real wiimore,” Press 1 and 2 on wii mote, (should blink) and press “pair up” in dolphin and wait 1-2 minutes or until it rumbles.
With all these settings the game should run flawlessly, It’s designed to run at 30FPS so don’t freak out when it caps at that. Simply means you have the limiter on which IS required. I have completed this game 3 times with this setup and played 100+ hours and I ran across 0 errors, perfectly synced sound, and stunning visuals with 100% water color effects. This is most certainly worth your time, and here is some screens, enjoy!
And here’s a remake of the romance trailer using Dolphin and Fraps, sorry about the stutters, this was pre capture card and fraps is a resource hog.
