You read that right, the long-awaited Second Chapter is coming to the US, and it’s coming to both PSP’s digital store and Steam. And, of course, being on the PSP’s digital store means you can play it on your Vita, if you prefer. Sorry, no word about a physical release. Not content to just stop there, XSeed is also publishing the first game in the series on Steam. They are accomplishing this for both games with the assistance of Carpe Fulgur, the same studio that brought us 3 JRPG’s on Steam, including one of my favorites, Recettear.
Carpe Fulgur’s role seems primarily to be that of translating and localizing Second Chapter, whereas XSeed (who translated and localized the first game) is overseeing the project to ensure its final quality. Considering how well they did with their previous 3 efforts, and how much they like the Trails in the Sky series themselves, I’m not at all worried about the translation efforts going sour.
Still no word on the final, 3rd chapter on coming to the US, but be patient! The 2nd part is the largest of the 3, as far as total text and story to translate, and it isn’t even finished as of yet. I’m confident that it will come, especially if this does well. Notice:
Wonderful news, for sure. Now, if you love JRPG’s, be sure to support their efforts when these are released!
