So.. I usually leave my figurine postings to TAY.. where there’s a small group of us..
I’ll give it a little shot here though. :) so… here’s the back-story of me and figures…
Thus, this may be the most boring article I have ever written. :)
Proceed with caution.
A long time ago.. (about 2 years ago :P)…
I used to think figure collecting was, frankly.. a little creepy.
A weird side of otaku-ism I just kinda shrugged at.
Why collect expensive (~$60+) pvc figures.. only to have them sit around and barely be looked at…?
Once in a while, I’d see some dedicated fan with nicely displayed figures… and think it was kinda neat.
I just admired how dedicated some collectors were, it’s cool to be that into something.
To me though.. It really just seemed so foreign.
Like it was it’s own little culture bubble inside of anime fans.
It just wasn’t for me… or so I thought.
I doubt I would’ve ever ventured here on my own.. I had a little help.. from Roni. haha (Of course, I have to blame her right?) :D
She saw a figure she wanted..
Ookami Ryouko. (Okami-san and her Seven Companions)
It was a nice figure, and it looked pretty cool.
It didn’t have that “cheap” look I imagined 3d renderings of a 2d model would have.
You could tell what character it was.. and feel some attitude there.. I was impressed.
So, we found one on eBay, and ordered it.
It came in, and Roni opened it and looked at it.. and it was indeed quite nice.
It had a lot of small details, and I felt like it was worth it.
A figure being worth buying, and owning?
That was a pretty big jump in what I’d thought previously
So, I looked around for a figure for myself.. what would I like?
Of course, being the big fan of Spice and Wolf that I am.. I started looking there..
I eventually decided to get this.. :)
Holo (Spice and Wolf)
.. and after it came in, I was pretty hooked.
They look cool, are neat to collect.. and show my support of anime/games.
I’ve been collecting them for about 6 months or so now!
Solely from anime or games that I really enjoyed.. or characters that really stood out. :)
Someday, I’ll get my (now LED lit) display cases all set up and re-organized to properly show things off..
For now though, I’ll just list off a few figures I am most proud to have. :)
Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid)
So that’s it!
Anything you want to know about, or ask?
Are you interested in figures at all, or did this bore you to death?
I’m curious. :)
