3DS outsold the PS Vita 47 to 1 in Japan

Sony just can’t get a break. Even in Japan where portable gaming is king, last week the 3DS heavily outsold the PS Vita. Now it maybe too early to say that the Vita is doomed before the release of Persona 4: The Golden but it is clear that Sony is fighting a tough battle.

Gamasutra reports:

Last week, the Vita hit a new all-time low in the country, selling only 4,021 units. By comparison, the 3DS sold nearly 47 times that many, at 187,077

A commenter at the site insinuated that the Vita was another Dreamcast in the making. The thing with Dreamcast is that at that moment Sega executives had little desire to stay in the hardware business, which is why it died in such a short time. Sony, on the other hand, hasn’t really had a console that failed yet so it is highly likely that they would stay the course with the Vita.
